Developing Strategy: A Case Study

  • Investigative research to inform the development of strategy during transformational change of a large Government organisation. This research investigated the relationship between the varied stakeholders in the business and the results were used to inform proposals for legislative change.
  • Regulatory approval obtained for an aircraft manufacturer for an on-board mobile phone system programme. The results of the research informed policy and procedures for aviation regulatory bodies and airlines within the European Union, allowing the safe operation of mobile systems onboard aircraft globally.

Evaluating Training Policy and Practice: A Case Study

The results of this research enabled the client to revise their training policy and procedures, maximising human performance and improving operational capability. To achieve this, Rebecca assessed current systems and procedures against the psychological principles of learning and good practice in training delivery, using a mixed-method approach to ensure full exploration of the relevant topics. A series of recommendations were made across three key elements – the learner, the instructor and the organisation, and included a change transition plan to support the implementation of the changes.

Human Performance Evaluation and Assessment

Evaluation – In order to ensure your organisation is getting the best out of its people, Mind Science use applied psychology to evaluate the human components of your current systems and processes with the aim of improving efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborative working with your organisation enables Mind Science to identify the barriers to optimal performance, proposing creative solutions and to work with you to implement the necessary changes to improve performance.
Assessment – The use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is common in the workplace but just because it can be measured doesn’t mean it should be. Inappropriate application of measurement means poor data which leads to suboptimal business solutions. Mind Science work with you to ensure that the your KPIs reflect actual performance – providing accurate insight into the way your business and your people are selected, trained and work, enabling effective strategic and operational planning.

Training Materials Evaluation: A Case Study

This research was a large scale, mixed-method programme to determine usability, product acceptability and performance of learning technology against traditional methods of training delivery. The results demonstrated ‘proof of concept’ and identified areas for further development – ensuring that value for money could be achieved by precisely defining requirements during the procurement process.
